The growing cost of running a UK household emphasises the value of ensuring you have adequate home insurance cover.
A survey by Clerical Medical reveals that the average UK household costs £679,042 to run over the course of a lifetime this means that around £11,234 per year is spent on bills.
The largest outgoing for households is mortgage repayments or bills. This equals around £313,000 over a life-time or £5,190 per annum.
In total British households spend £274 million each year on their homes but many could be neglecting to spend some on this home insurance cover just in case the worst should happen.
"They say buying a house is the most expensive purchase you will ever make, and theyre not wrong," said John Hiew, managing director, Clerical Medical said.
He added: "Once the house is bought it doesnt stop there. The general running costs and outgoings are quite staggering yet people still find the money from somewhere."
