Wannabe homeowners are being encouraged to shop around for a cheap mortgage deal in order to secure their first property.
New figures from the Land Registry show that the sale of homes across England and Wales has increased by 38 per cent over the first three months of the year, when compared with the same period in 2005.
The data reveals that a total of 218,770 homes have been sold and that such demand is also boosting average property prices. Over the past year, the selling price of the average home has risen by over five per cent to £192,745.
In particular, London house prices and sales have continued to rise, with total sales increasing by 41 per cent and the average property costing £306,661.
However, buyers are advised to shop around for a competitive cheap mortgage that could enable them to secure their ideal home.
