New research suggests that many young travellers are taking too many short-cuts when it comes to going on holiday.
The Post Office revealed that often young holidaymakers can neglect to plan their travels and don't buy important travel insurance cover, especially when taking a short break.
Over 1.5 million 18 to 24 year-olds are hoping to take at least one short break this year, yet 22 per cent of not planning to take out travel insurance, compared to just 12 per cent of older travellers.
Many young holidaymakers think that travel insurance cover is not needed for short trips because they are not away for a long period. However, this is not the case and many could be leaving themselves open to a number of costly risks.
Hugh Stacey, head of travel services at the Post Office, said: " The advice from the Post Office for any would-be Short Break Short-Cutter is dont be short-sighted when it comes to quick getaways.
"Whether you are going away for a couple of days or a fortnights holiday, you are just as susceptible to theft, loss or accidents. Get adequate travel insurance before you fly and make your short break a safe one."
