The end of the Winter Olympics could see many people being inspired to hit the slopes but budding athletes are being urged not to forget the winter travel insurance cover.
The Winter Olympics in Turin ended at the weekend with a spectacular closing ceremony that included air acrobatics and a Fiat car on fire. However, the Games have also encouraged many spectators to have a go at a number of winter sports including skiing and snowboarding.
Dawn McMullan, of Norwich Union insurance said: "With all eyes on the Turin Winter Olympics, there's an increased interest in winter sports but people should remember to take out travel insurance with winter sports optional cover before hitting the slopes."
Travel insurance not only protects against theft of belongings but also helps to cover the cost of unforeseen circumstances such as broken limbs. Recent research by Norwich Union shows that the cost of a broken leg can vary significantly, with some counties charging as much as £6,000 for medical treatment.
