Many people forget to pack holiday insurance when travelling within the UK because they feel it is only necessary for overseas trips.
However, holidaymakers are being reminded that insurance is still vital even if they are planning to spend their annual vacation at one of the UK's holiday hotspots. Cover can help protect against stolen or lost belongings or cover unexpected cancellations.
The Guardian reports that despite the increase in cheap flights, many people will still chose to spend their holidays in the UK, with the Shetland Islands enjoy a recent surge in visitor numbers.
Holidaymakers are attracted to the Islands because of its remote location, wildlife and high-quality food.
"The absolutely in place at the moment is Shetland," says Bob Macbeth, publisher of Travel GBI.
"It's got the freshest air in Britain, bags of Viking history and great abbeys. The people are friendly, you can get back to nature, and it has the finest lamb you've ever tasted."
However, London is seen as one of the worst places to visit, with holidaymakers advised to avoid the capital city's poor food, expensive accommodation, congested roads and widespread pollution.
