Many UK buyers looking for a holiday home are turning towards properties in New Hampshire in the US, rather than the traditional ex-pat locations.
US-based estate agent Badger Realty has reported a strong increase in the number of British people looking for a second-home in the mountains of New Hampshire, especially as prices remain low and flight times are less than those to rival destinations such as Florida.
"We've seen a huge jump in purchases by buyers from the UK," said Pete Pietz, a Realtor with Badger Realty in North Conway, New Hampshire.
"We've sold condominiums, homes, investment properties-even a traditional New England bed & breakfast-to international buyers in the past year."
The area also appeals to UK residents because of the wide range of activities in the region. In winter, skiing is a popular pursuit, whilst summer visitors can participate in a number of outdoor sports.
