As the cold Arctic-like weather sweeps the UK, many people could be convinced to travel to warmer climes.
Many parts of the UK have experienced snow and freezing temperatures over the past 24 hours as an Arctic weather band continues to sweep the country.
Scotland, northern and eastern England have experienced the worst of the weather so far, with blizzards and heavy snow being reported by the Met Office. Weather forecasters are also predicting that northern regions of Scotland may see up to 20cm of snow as the bad weather continues.
Motoring groups are warning drivers to be extra careful in the snow and allow additional time for their travel to work and home. The Highways Agency has confirmed that road gritters had been working overnight to treat motorways and other major routes.
"Drivers are advised to slow down and leave plenty of room between vehicles, as it can take up to ten times longer to slow down or stop in wet or icy conditions," said a spokesperson.
