The continuing strikes in France are likely to impact on the travel plans of many British holidaymakers.
Low-budget airlines easyJet and Ryanair have been forced to make a number of cancellations because of the ingoing dispute between the French government and trade unions, reports the Times.
Ryanair has cancelled a total of 80 flights, which equals the airline's complete French timetable. easyJet has cancelled a total of 48 flights but 95 per cent of UK to France services are expected to continue running. All passengers will be entitled to a refund or will be able to rebook their ticket for an alterative flight.
However, Thalys, which operates high-speed trains between France and Brussels is expecting some services to be delayed and the company has confirmed that its normal offer of compensation due to of delays does not apply during the strikes.
Therefore anyone planning a trip abroad is reminded that taking out separate holiday insurance is not only vital in helping to compensate for delays but could also offer cover against unexpected medical treatment or the loss of personal belongings.
