The recent closure of part of the M11 has highlighted the need for travel insurance to help cover any unexpected costs.
The shutdown of the motorway was caused after a recovery van caught fire and meant that many travellers missed flights because of the resulting four hour traffic jam between London and Stansted Airport
A spokeswoman for Essex Police, speaking to the Evening Standard, said: "The carriageways in both directions of the M11 between junctions six and eight are now both fully reopened and traffic is now moving along it."
However, those holiday makers with adequate travel insurance cover will be able to claim back any associated expenses with travelling on an alternative flight or being forced to stay in nearby airport hotels.
Whilst those people who felt a travel insurance policy was an unnecessary cost could be forced to cancel their holiday or fork-out more to make alternative travel arrangements.
