Travellers planning to take a trip to a popular destination are being advised to make sure they have appropriate holiday insurance cover.
Traditional destinations such as Spain and France are beginning to return to the top as holiday makers decide against long-haul trips and take advantage of low-cost airline fares.
The latest Travel and Tourism International report, which provides quarterly tourism profiles of destination countries, predicts that European destinations are once again becoming popular with tourists, especially post 9/11.
In 2004, Spain, slightly behind France, managed to attract over 53 million arrivals pushing the US down in to third place. This is largely due to the growing popularity of city-breaks, however, even short-term travellers need to ensure that the have adequate holiday insurance to cover any foreseen event such as lost luggage or emergency medical treatment.
