The recent extreme weather conditions highlight the need for people to ensure they have sufficient travel insurance cover.
Many drivers found themselves stranded over the weekend as forecasters warned of 20cm snow across Scotland as well as the arrival of severe gale force winds.
The wintry conditions lead to the closure of both Glasgow and Edinburgh airports meaning that thousands of travellers were left stranded. Train services to and from Glasgow Central station were also suspended and passengers were told to allow extra time for essential journeys.
However, those with appropriate travel insurance will be able to recover the cost of any delays and could be soon on their way to warmer climes.
Travel insurance can also cover any number of unexpected problems associated with travelling including lost luggage and the cost of medical treatment.
