Eurostar, the cross-channel train service, is set to enjoy a strong second quarter due to a predicted rise in the number of people planning a Da Vinci Code-themed holiday.
The company reported that business increased significantly in the first six months of the year, with sales rising by seven per cent and passenger numbers reaching a record-high of 1.7 million passengers.
Richard Brown, chief executive of Eurostar, commented: "Were continuing to win travellers from our competitor airlines, as strong punctuality and superior service make Eurostar the carrier of choice."
Eurostar is hoping that the forthcoming release of the Da Vinci Code movie, staring Tom Hanks, will encourage many holiday makers to explore European-based locations featured in the film.
The World Cup in June is also expected to increase the number of people opting for Eurostar travel. However, all travellers are reminded that choosing to travel by train rather than plane does not mean they should forget to pack the appropriate holiday insurance cover
