MSC Cruises is planning to increase its liner capacities to 1.1 million berths over the next three years.
The Italian-based company is planning to launch a new liner in June and add a further four before 2009 as it responds to strong growth within the holiday cruise sector.
The latest ship is expected to be 293 metres long and 32 metres wide and will be officially launched by Sophia Loren in Venice on 29th June.
The liner will be able to accommodate 2,550 guests in 1,275 cabins as well as providing a wide range of leisure facilities including saunas, three pools, golf simulator, basketball and tennis courts.
Passengers will also be able to eat at four different restaurants, gamble at an onboard casino as well as enjoy an art gallery and a 1,200 seat theatre.
However, travellers are still being urged to remember to pack adequate holiday insurance cover, especially as unexpected medical treatment on cruises can prove a very expensive affair.
