More workers are planning to take a break from their careers this year as they struggle to cope with work-related stress, claims a new report.
A study from Direct Line Travel Insurance discovered that many people are willing to take unpaid leave in order to escape from the daily grind and many are considering an extended trip abroad to help ease their worries.
In particular, the construction industry could see a mass exodus of workers this year and many employers many need to consider automatically offering staff the chance to take extended holidays in order to avoid a long-term skills shortage.
Chris Price from Direct Line Travel Insurance, said, "Wanting to hold on to valued members of staff, lots of companies include sabbaticals as part of the job package they offer to new recruits."
However, anyone planning to get away from it all is encouraged to make sure they have adequate holiday insurance cover before jetting off - otherwise they could find themselves returning to the rat race early in order to pay off emergency medical treatment debts.
