The growing availability of cheap holiday deals means that many Brits are taking more than one trip abroad each year.
Research from insurance provider More Than discovered that UK holidaymakers are taking more than 60 million trips abroad but that many could be paying too much for their holiday insurance cover.
Travellers could be spending more than they should on travel insurance as they take out single trip cover rather than annual multi-trip cover, especially as 73 per cent of all holiday insurance policies are for single trips only.
Annual holiday insurance can cost around £40, which is comparable to the insurance required for two short breaks in Europe.
More Than's Graham Hollebon said: "Travel insurance can make an unfortunate situation more bearable and a lot less stressful. Anyone planning more than two trips away each year should consider purchasing annual cover, which will save both time and money."
He added: "Every day we speak to people who would have been in a very tricky situation without travel insurance."
