The cost of car travel is continuing to increase, according to a new survey.
Research from insurance provider Direct Line estimates that the average cost of running a car is £511 per month meaning that Brits spend a collective £90 billion a year on car travel.
The cost of running a vehicle has risen by 56 per cent over the past two decades, especially as car buyers fail to shop around to get the best finance or insurance deals.
David Allan, commercial director for Direct Line Driving, said: "The most concerning aspect of the report is that of new car buyers this March, one in four will accept the often expensive car dealerships financing schemes."
He added: "Have an indication of what your loan payment is going to cost you each month, what the cost of insurance might be
that way you can rest easy when you make your purchase."
