Taking the pass plus or advanced driving test could help youngsters lower their car insurance premiums.
It is estimated that two young people aged 17 to 25-years-old are killed on UK roads each day but DIAmond Advanced Motorists believe that developing advanced road skills could help to lower this number and lead to cheaper car insurance cover.
DIAmond Advanced Motorists' general manager Eddie Barnaville said: "If we had 14 young people wiped out in a mini bus each week the Government would come under attack from all directions."
"Something more needs to be done," he added.
The current basic driving test allows candidates to make up to 15 minor driving faults over a six-mile route. However, the advanced test examines a driver's capacity to deal with a variety of road conditions in much greater detail as well as looking at issues surrounding night-time and motorway driving.
Successful completion of the test usually grants an immediate discount on car insurance policies and could help make insurance more affordable for younger drivers.
