Young drivers are being warned that driving dangerously could put other road users at risk and increase car insurance costs.
A survey from Sainsbury's Bank discovered that many motorists have admitted to driving in a potentially dangerous manner in the last month alone. A total of 38 per cent of drivers claim to have driven despite feeling tired, whilst nearly a third said they have consumed food and drink whilst in charge of a vehicle.
One in four drivers also admitted to driving above the legal speed limit, which can carry penalty license points, fines and even a ban.
Richard Clark, car insurance manager at Sainsbury's bank, commented: "Motorists should think carefully about their driving habits as many may not have considered the dangers."
"Driving after drinking just one alcoholic drink for example. The Department of Transport advises that just the one could be too much as it's impossible to calculate your own alcohol limit," he stated.
Young drivers are being reminded to make sure they do not drive a car unless they are legally fit to do so otherwise they could end up being involved in a costly collision.
