Young drivers looking for bargains on new motors could be wise to buy during the World Cup season.
According to Glass's Motoring Guide, dealers are likely to see a dip in buying activity over the coming months as families use more of their spare time and money to support their team.
This trend, the car valuation expert says, is usually seen every time there is a major sporting event and with more people than ever getting excited about the World Cup this time around, business is expected to take a nose dive.
"Commercially speaking, the World Cup can represent one of the biggest global opportunities for retailers, but car-buying demands an extensive investment, not only financially, but also in terms of time," said Adrian Rushmore, managing editor of Glass's Motoring Guide.
"For many families, major sporting events can dominate recreational time and may correspondingly defer the buying process to a later date."
But for young drivers willing to tear themselves away from the big screens this summer, June and July could be the perfect time to invest in a first set of wheels.
As activity slows dealers will become increasingly desperate to shift their stock, and shrewd buyers could find themselves being offered significant discounts.
