Drivers should ensure they remember to keep details of their motor insurance to hand during the busy festive season.
The holidays usually mean an increase in accidents and therefore insurance claims but NFU Mutual are encouraging people to take a few steps to prevent additional hassles.
Remembering to store presents out of view from thieves and taking extra care on roads during icy and foggy weather conditions can mean there is less chance of needing to file a claim which would push up premiums in the New Year.
"The last thing anyone wants is for their Christmas to be ruined - so take care and make sure you have the right insurance in place to ensure the festive season doesnt turn into a bleak midwinter," said John Kenny, NFU Mutual claims manager.
Consumers are also being advised to double-check that their other insurance polices are up-to-date and will cover possible burst pipes or poorly pets over the Christmas period.
Those planning to leave the cold weather of the UK are also urged to ensure their holiday insurance will cover their trip to sunny climes.
