Fans planning to drive to Germany for the World Cup are reminded to make sure they have valid motor insurance cover.
Co-operative Insurance has raised concerns that many drivers may be unaware that their current motor insurance cover may not apply once they leave UK soil. This could be particularly important because the fans face a higher risk of being involved in an accident due to unfamiliar roads and signs.
Therefore, supporters are being advised to read the small print on their policies and purchase full European cover before setting off.
David Newman, director of marketing at Co-operative Insurance, said: "By providing customers with policies offering greater freedom, they can travel whenever they wish and worry about nothing but the performance of the players on the pitch."
It is expected that many fans are planning to drive from England to Germany for the tournament after discovering many flights are already fully-booked.
