Calm driving could be good for your health, the environment and help to reduce insurance premiums, according to the RAC Foundation and the Energy Saving Trust.
The research suggests that spending around 15 minutes a day in quiet contemplation when driving could lead to higher energy levels and greater creatively in the workplace.
Driving more carefully also helps to reduce harmful emissions and increase fuel economy as well as lowering the likelihood of being involved in an accident and so potentially resulting in reduced premiums.
"By taking simple steps to reduce the likelihood of vehicle breakdown, and getting stuck in jams, motorists can turn their driving experience into a pleasurable stress free journey," said Edmund King, executive director of the RAC Foundation.
"Motorists can also feel satisfied in the knowledge that by avoiding harsh acceleration and braking, and sticking to speed limits, they will soon feel the benefits in their wallets."
