Car insurance could help protect vulnerable motorists against motiveless vandalism in inner city areas.
A recent spate of car vandalism in Coventry has highlighted the need for drivers to ensure they are covered if their car is targeted by criminals, reports the Coventry Evening Telegraph.
Fourteen cars had their tyres slashed and windows smashed in what the police describe as a serious of drunken copycat attacks.
Cars parked along Styvechale Avenue, Earlsdon Avenue and Warwick Street in Earlsdon were found with smashed windows, whilst tyres were slashed on six cars in Charter Avenue and Gerard Avenue, in Canley.
The attacks are believed to have occurred on Friday and Saturday nights and follow a similar incident on November the 12th when eight cars were vandalised.
Recent research by insurer Direct Line concluded that six in ten drivers will be the victim of vandalism at some point in their driving lifetime and the average cost of repairing the damage is £267 so it pays to ensure the vehicle is adequately insured.
