Leading insurer Aviva is planning to boost the number of motorists who belong to its newly-acquired RAC breakdown service.
Aviva, who also own Norwich Union, are hoping to add a further 1.4 million customers to the RAC business over the next three years and this is likely to increase cross-selling between motor insurance and roadside repair cover.
The company is planning to add around 800,000 members to the RAC Rescue business, whilst boosting RAC Insurance customer numbers from 600,000 to 800,000.
We are starting a big advertising campaign next month which will look at refreshing how we are positioned, said RAC managing director Simon Machell.
We believe the RAC is a terrific brand which needs more marketing investment and we are confident that we will be able to increase roadside rescue customers from 2.2 million to three million by the end of 2008," he added.
