Back and side passages
- Consider fitting a strong gate which can be locked across a side passage to prevent an intruder from getting into the back of your house where they can work their break in undisturbed and un-noticed
- If you share a side passage with a neighbour you might even be able to share the cost with them.
- Laying gravel down is a cheap and effective burglar alarm! The crunching noise made when walking across it is often enough to deter intruders from crossing it. Therefore lay it across garden paths, outside windows and on driveways
- Security lights activated by motion sensors are also extremely effective at causing burglars to flee before they even get up the driveway.
- You could even consider installing a domestic CCTV camera linked to a dedicated TV or video. Not only will it add an extra element of security to your home, but it can also enable you to observe your garden and its wildlife at close quarters from the comfort of your living room.
