Many British homeowners may be sitting on millions of pounds' worth of valuables without even knowing it - and underinsuring their home contents as a result.
According to Andrew Cheney, a risk management surveyor at Hiscox and a valuer and auctioneer with BBC TV's Flog it! programme, there are many different types of items which people might not even realise are valuable.
These include toy cars, dolls and teddy bears, and even stamps on old, inherited correspondence, many of which have now become collectors' items.
"The word valuables is a broad umbrella term covering a variety of subjects with value where you may least expect it," Mr Cheney comments.
Discovering a hidden treasure can be exciting - but it's important to that homeowners make sure their contents are adequately insured or they could face a reduced payout in the event of loss or theft.
