Churchill Insurance has dropped comedian Vic Reeves from its television advertisements after he was arrested and charged with drink driving.
The company said the car insurance campaign featuring the 46-year old had now been withdrawn and a spokesman said Churchill took road safety "very seriously".
The British comic, real name James Moir, has voiced the nodding bulldog in the Churchill campaign for five years.
He was arrested and charged with drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a crash in Kent on Friday night.
Mr Reeves' vintage Jaguar ploughed into a stationary car in Maidstone, careering into a bank and hitting a fence, according to reports. He is due to appear before magistrates on April 7th.
"We are extremely concerned to hear of the recent events involving Vic Reeves," Churchill said in a statement.
"We take all road safety issues very seriously and in view of this, we will be withdrawing our one TV advert featuring Vic Reeves, while we fully review the situation."
