Brand new luxury cars are among the most likely to experience crashes on their first day, according to a new report by a major car insurance specialist.
Churchill Car Insurance says that as many as600 new cars each day finish up as a pile of junk. A further 2640 crash within a week.
Porsche drivers are said to be among the most unfortunate, with the powerful car proving a handful for some drivers.
Darren McCauley, head of car insurance at Churchill, commented: "There are a number of reasons why people crash in new cars.
"There is the distraction caused by the excitement of owning a new car, coupled with the fact that it can take a while to get used to the different controls and switches."
The insurer says that a total of £8.1 million worth of cars will be damaged on their first day.
